Chapter 10
The Fury of the Storm
A violent storm separates them. Nalu and Kiko bravely rescue Oru from being swept onto rocks, finding shelter. Oru sees Nalu's emerging leadership.
The tranquil journey that had carried Nalu, Kiko, and Oru across the vast blue expanse was abruptly shattered. The water, once a gentle cradle, began to churn with an unsettling fury. Dark clouds, bruised and heavy, swallowed the sun, plunging their world into a dim twilight. The sea, their home, was transforming into a tempestuous beast.
“Hold on!” Oru’s voice, usually a calm rumble, was now strained against the rising roar of the ocean. Waves, like colossal, angry hands, crashed down upon them, tossing them about with merciless abandon. Currents, once predictable pathways, twisted and writhed, pulling them in dizzying, unpredictable directions. Nalu felt a terrifying sense of disorientation, his sleek body buffeted and slammed by the relentless force of the storm.
Kiko, his smaller frame struggling against the onslaught, squeaked in panic, his usual bravado dissolving into fear. Nalu, despite his own terror, instinctively reached out, nudging Kiko towards him. “Stay close!” he cried, his voice barely audible above the wind’s howl and the ocean’s thunder. He managed to grasp Kiko’s fin, a small anchor in the chaos, and together they fought to maintain their position, a tiny speck of determination against the storm’s overwhelming might.
