The biting wind of the northern night seemed to coil around Tina as she stepped out of the warmth of the small café, the scent of strong coffee and cinnamon still clinging to her clothes. The aurora borealis, a celestial ballet of emerald and violet, shimmered overhead, a spectacle she’d once only dreamed of. Now, it was simply the backdrop to her life, a life that had taken a sharp, exhilarating, and terrifying turn ever since Ravine had crashed into it.
A sleek black car, all sharp angles and predatory gleam, idled at the curb, its engine a low thrum against the quiet hum of the town. Tina’s breath hitched, a familiar knot of apprehension and something akin to thrill tightening in her stomach. This was Ravine’s usual mode of transport, a stark contrast to the beat-up pickup trucks she was used to.
The passenger door swung open, revealing Ravine, perfectly sculpted and radiating an aura of dangerous power. Even in the dim light, her eyes, sharp and assessing, seemed to pierce through the swirling snow. She wore a dark, tailored coat that emphasized her broad shoulders, a stark contrast to the softer silhouettes Tina favored.
