The air in the shadowed glade grew thick with a palpable tension, a miasma woven from Elara’s honeyed words and the grim reality I was bound to speak. Prince Theron, his brow furrowed in a distress that tugged at my ancient heart, stood between us, a fragile pivot point. Elara, cloaked in an illusion of maternal concern, had just painted a picture of effortless victory, a path paved with comfort and swift success. “My dear Prince,” she’d purred, her voice like the rustle of silk, “the artifact lies but a stone’s throw from here, nestled in a grove of moonlit lilies. A single incantation, a touch of my hand, and its power will be yours. No need for this… bird’s cryptic riddles or arduous journeys.”

Theron’s gaze flickered between us, his blue eyes wide with a dawning uncertainty. He was a good man, a kind prince, but his idealism was a beacon for Elara’s darkness. She thrived on innocence, on the desperate hope that a benevolent force would simply hand him the answers. “Corvus,” he began, his voice laced with a plea for clarity, “Master Elara speaks of a simple solution. Are you certain your… pronouncements… are not simply a reflection of a more difficult, but ultimately unnecessary, route?”
