The canyon bowl lay still, the echo of Tasha’s song fading into the rock. Zahra stood before them, her robes pooling on the dark stones, her eyes unreadable. The air hummed with an energy that made the hairs on Tasha’s arms stand on end.
Elias broke the silence first. “What do you mean, the map recognized its keeper?”
Zahra’s gaze never left Tasha. “The map is not a thing of ink and parchment, Elias Thorne. It is a living memory, bound to blood and song. Your companion carries the old line in her veins. She is the true keeper, whether she knows it or not.”
