The chill of the stone seeped into Alex’s very being, a sensation as alien as the crimson light bathing his throne room. Three hundred years. A blink in the grand tapestry of his original existence, yet an epoch in this new, fragile form. He felt it, the gnawing absence where emotions used to churn, replaced by a vast, silent expanse. It was not emptiness, not precisely. It was a void, waiting to be filled, or perhaps, to be ignored. He was Alex, the vampire, born of a bloodline ancient and potent, yet the echo of a gamer, of a different life, still resonated faintly within the stillness.
Lilith knelt before him, her crimson eyes, usually alight with a fervent adoration, now held a careful, almost reverent, apprehension. Her dark hair, a cascade of midnight, spilled over the shoulders of her obsidian gown. Around them, the vast hall of his blood castle, a monument to his power and his legend, seemed to hold its breath. The crimson moon, a celestial wound in the velvet sky, cast long, skeletal shadows across the polished obsidian floor.
“My Lord,” Lilith’s voice was a silken caress, laced with the devotion that had defined her existence for centuries. “You awaken. The world… it has changed.”
