A Glimpse of Power

Though weakened, Alex demonstrates flashes of his former power during a test, unsettling his followers and hinting at the true extent of his capabilities.

The air in the Grand Hall of the Blood Castle was thick with anticipation, a tangible hum that vibrated beneath the polished obsidian floor. Crimson banners, embroidered with ancient, serpentine sigils, hung heavy from the vaulted ceiling, catching the faint, spectral light that emanated from the very stones of the fortress. At the heart of it all, upon a throne carved from solidified blood, sat Alex. Or rather, the form that was Alex. He was a silhouette against the gloom, his presence a chilling void that drew the gaze of the assembled women.

Lilith, her crimson eyes burning with an almost unbearable intensity, knelt at the foot of the throne. Her alabaster skin seemed to glow in the dimness, and her raven hair cascaded around her like a dark waterfall. Beside her, and yet separate, stood Seraphina, her pale blonde hair a stark contrast to Lilith’s darkness, her usually serene features etched with a nervous tension. The others, a collection of shadows and moonlight, watched with varying degrees of apprehension and fervent adoration.

"He stirs," Lilith whispered, her voice a silken caress that nonetheless carried an edge of steel. "The slumber that bound him for three centuries begins to fray."
