Chapter 5
The Unveiling of the Prophecy
Elias reveals an ancient prophecy and a cryptic artifact to Lilly. It speaks of a great darkness and a chosen one who can stand against it. The artifact pulses with a strange energy, resonating with Lilly.
The air in Elias’s study was thick with the scent of aged parchment and dried herbs, a familiar aroma that usually soothed Lilly. Tonight, however, it felt heavy, charged with an unspoken anticipation. Dust motes danced in the single shaft of moonlight that pierced the gloom, illuminating the cluttered shelves overflowing with tomes and scrolls. Elias, his face etched with a weariness that seemed older than his years, sat hunched over a heavy wooden table, his gnarled fingers tracing intricate patterns on a surface Elias had not seen before.
“You asked me to show you what I’ve found, Lilly,” Elias’s voice was a low rumble, barely disturbing the quiet. “What I’ve been searching for, for so long.” He gestured to the object before him. It was a disc, no larger than Lilly’s palm, fashioned from a metal that shimmered with an iridescent, almost liquid quality, like polished obsidian infused with starlight. Strange, angular symbols, unlike any Lilly had ever encountered, were etched into its surface, forming a complex, interlocking design.
Lilly leaned closer, her breath catching in her throat. The symbols seemed to writhe at the edge of her vision, as if alive. “What is it?” she whispered, her voice barely audible.
