As the ghost relents, the blood-red moon begins to fade, its eerie glow softening. The spectral guests dissipate, and the forest returns to its normal, autumnal quietude. The immediate danger has passed.

The ghost, bless his ancient, cobweb-draped soul, actually *listened*. It was a miracle, frankly, and one I was still trying to wrap my head around. One minute, he was stomping his spectral foot, demanding an eternal Halloween bash that would make the trees weep glitter and the squirrels wear tiny vampire capes forever. The next, after Bartholomew's truly spectacular (and I use that term loosely, given the punchline) joke about a ghost who went to a haunted house and got scared, the Grumpy Ghost actually… chuckled. A dry, rustling sound, like dead leaves skittering across a forgotten grave.

"Alright, alright," he'd rasped, his voice losing some of its spectral edge, sounding more like a tired old man who’d just finished a marathon of costume parties. "Perhaps… perhaps you have a point, young witch. An *end time* does sound rather… manageable. Less… exhausting."

And just like that, the blood-red moon, which had been pulsating with an almost aggressive intensity, seemed to take a deep, shuddering breath. The vibrant, alarming crimson began to soften, bleeding into a dusky rose, then a shy coral, and finally, a gentle, familiar silver. It was like watching a furious blush slowly fade from a teenager's cheeks.
