The air in the dressing room was thick, not with the usual scent of hairspray and perfume, but with a cloying sweetness that felt like a lie. My reflection stared back, a stranger with my face, her eyes impossibly bright, her lips curved into that practiced, empty smile. They called it perfection. I called it a cage forged from light and sound, every note a bar, every cheer a locking click. Tonight, that cage would shatter.

The sword felt impossibly heavy against my hip, a dark secret nestled beneath the layers of shimmering fabric. It pulsed with a low hum, a thrumming that resonated deep within my bones, drowning out the frantic beat of my own heart. It was a dangerous comfort, a promise of oblivion and release, a whisper of a different kind of power, one that wasn't manufactured, wasn't demanded. It was mine.

The whispers had grown louder these past few days, no longer just fleeting intimations at the edge of my hearing. They coiled around me, a serpent of sound, speaking of forgotten gods and the sweet oblivion of true silence. Shadows, too, had begun to dance in my peripheral vision, fleeting figures that mirrored my own growing unease, their forms shifting and elongating like smoke. The producers, of course, saw nothing. They saw only Miku, their perfect product, poised for her next triumph. They were blind, deaf, and utterly, gloriously wrong.
