Miku attempts a controlled release of the sword's power during a smaller event, hoping for liberation. Instead, it results in unintended consequences, a chaotic surge that frightens even her.
The air in the small venue hung thick with anticipation, a humid blanket woven from the sweat of eager fans and the cloying scent of cheap perfume. It was a stark contrast to the vast arenas, the blinding spotlights, the deafening roar of thousands. This was an intimate affair, a “fan appreciation” event, the producers had called it. A chance for me to connect, to show them the *real* Miku. They didn't know how right they were.
My smile felt glued on, a porcelain mask that threatened to crack with every forced wave, every pre-rehearsed laugh. They craved authenticity, or at least, their version of it. A carefully curated glimpse behind the curtain, just enough to make them feel special, but never enough to see the wires that held me up.
Beneath my costume, the sword’s presence was a thrumming secret, a low vibration against my skin. It had been weeks since I’d found it, weeks of stolen moments in the shadowed corners of my apartment, tracing the intricate, alien patterns etched into its metal. It whispered to me, not in words, but in feelings – a rush of raw power, a promise of escape. Tonight, I’d decided, would be different. Tonight, I would test its limits. Not a grand, destructive display, but a subtle infusion. A hint of the chaos brewing within me.
