Hyunjin watches Jinwoo with a growing sense of unease. He notices the dancer's calculated smiles, the way he lingers in Felix's space, and the subtle shift in attention. It feels too convenient.

The air backstage was always thick with a peculiar blend of anticipation and exhaustion, a shared breath held by dozens of artists before they spilled onto the stage, transforming into the vibrant beings the world adored. For Hyunjin, this space had always felt like a second home, a sanctuary filled with the comforting rhythm of movement and the familiar scent of sweat and hairspray. But lately, a new note had been struck in that symphony, a discordant hum that vibrated beneath the surface of his usual calm.

He leaned against a cool metal railing, his eyes, usually scanning for Felix’s reassuring smile, now fixed on Jinwoo. The backup dancer moved with an effortless grace, a serpentine fluidity that was undeniably captivating. Jinwoo was good, Hyunjin had to admit that. Exceptionally good. He possessed a magnetism that drew the eye, a charisma that seemed to bloom under the glare of the stage lights. And that was precisely what pricked at Hyunjin’s conscience.

It wasn't just Jinwoo's talent that made Hyunjin’s stomach clench. It was the *way* he was talented, the way his presence seemed to expand, filling the space left vacant by Felix’s increasingly frequent absences. It had started subtly, barely perceptible. A few extra seconds of spotlight during a group dance, a more prominent position in the formation. Then came the smiles, broad and bright, directed not just at the audience, but at the cameras, at the management, at anyone who might be watching. They were practiced smiles, Hyunjin thought, polished to a blinding sheen.
