The sterile scent of the hospital clung to the air, a stark contrast to the vibrant energy that usually pulsed through Felix’s life. He lay propped against a mountain of pillows, his usually bright eyes clouded with a weariness that no amount of sleep could erase. The vibrant colours of his room, a deliberate choice to combat the starkness of his illness, seemed muted today, the sunlight struggling to penetrate the heavy curtains. He traced the intricate patterns on his duvet, a familiar comfort, but even that felt distant, a phantom sensation against his fingertips.

A soft knock echoed through the quiet room, followed by the gentle push of the door. Felix’s heart gave a hopeful flutter. Hyunjin. Always Hyunjin. But the figure that entered wasn't his best friend. It was Jinwoo, a wide, practiced smile plastered across his face, holding a bouquet of sunflowers that seemed almost offensively cheerful.

"Felix-ssi," Jinwoo’s voice was a honeyed balm, perfectly modulated for sincerity. "I was just passing by the hospital, and I thought of you. Such beautiful weather outside, and I couldn't bear the thought of you missing it all."
