He’d felt flickers of it before, fleeting surges that had erupted when he was cornered, when fear or anger had threatened to consume him. But this… this was different. This was a controlled burn, a steady, radiant heat that seemed to emanate from his core, pushing back the oppressive darkness of the forgotten temple.

The stranger, Elara, watched him from the shadows, her eyes – the color of a twilight sky – reflecting the faint, internal glow that now pulsed beneath Kael’s skin. He could feel it, a subtle luminescence that painted the rough-hewn walls in hues of amber and gold. It was the 'flame' the creature had spoken of, the one that had razed his village and driven him into the clutches of this enigmatic woman. It was *his* flame.

“You feel it, don’t you?” Elara’s voice was soft, a silken thread woven through the resonant hum. “The awakening. It is not merely the temple that stirs, Kael. It is you.”
