The Forbidden Temple

Guided by the order, Kael seeks a hidden temple said to hold the final answers about the Hollow King and the origins of the Fate Marks.

The air grew heavy, thick with the scent of damp earth and something else, something ancient and still. Kael followed Elara through the winding, overgrown path, the trees pressing in on either side like silent sentinels. Sunlight, once a warm companion, now dappled through the dense canopy in weak, hesitant shafts, painting shifting patterns on the moss-covered stones beneath their feet. The Order of the Vigil, or at least its more prominent members, had led them here, to the edge of the Whisperwood, a place spoken of only in hushed tones, a place rife with forgotten stories and dangerous truths.

"This is it," Elara murmured, her voice barely disturbing the quiet. Her eyes, usually alight with a fierce, unwavering conviction, held a flicker of something akin to awe, perhaps even trepidation. "The Temple of the Unwoven. Few have found it, fewer still have returned with their minds intact."

Kael’s hand instinctively went to the worn leather pouch at his hip, the one containing the shard of obsidian the creature had gifted him. It pulsed faintly, a warmth that was both comforting and unnerving. He felt it now, a subtle thrumming in the earth, a resonance that echoed the strange energy he’d begun to feel within himself. The Order had spoken of this place as a repository of knowledge, a place where the architects of the Fate Marks had laid bare their secrets, and where the prophecy of the ‘Last Flame’ was etched in stone.
