Chapter 11
A Glimpse of Power
Kael experiences flashes of uncontrolled power, a terrifying echo of the magic contained within the Fate Marks, hinting at his potential.
The air thrummed with a restless energy, a subtle vibration that Kael felt deep in his bones, far more than he heard or saw. It was a feeling that had grown since he’d fled the ashes of Oakhaven, a persistent whisper at the edge of his senses. Her presence had become a silent anchor in Kael’s chaotic existence, a constant reminder that he was no longer entirely alone, even if her words were as elusive as smoke.
A tremor ran through the ground, not the violent shake that had leveled his home, but a low, resonant hum. Kael sat up, his heart hammering against his ribs. The hum intensified, and with it came a strange heat, radiating from within him. It wasn't the biting cold of fear, but something warmer, more primal, like a banked ember coaxed back to life.
