A Whispered Confession
Gathering all his courage, Blaze whispers, 'Luna... I... I think I'm falling in love with you.' He braces himself, his gaze fixed on her, the unspoken words hanging heavy in the air between them.
The air, thick with the scent of chlorine and sun-warmed plastic, hummed with the echoes of laughter and the distant roar of water slides. Luna, her hair a damp halo around her face, splashed playfully at Blaze, sending a cascade of droplets towards him. He dodged, a grin spreading across his lips, his eyes, as always, finding hers. They were in the shallow end of the wave pool, the manufactured waves lapping around their knees, a gentle rhythm that mirrored the beating of Blaze’s heart.
Splashy the mascot, a creature of pure, unadulterated joy with his oversized flippers and perpetually cheerful grin, bobbed nearby. He seemed to be keeping a watchful, almost knowing, eye on them, his bright blue eyes twinkling with an inner light. He’d been a constant, whimsical presence throughout their day, appearing at just the right moments, his antics always managing to draw them closer, to spark a shared giggle or a lingering glance.
“You’re going down, Blaze!” Luna declared, her voice bubbling with mirth. She lunged, her hands splayed, aiming to dunk him.
