The candlelight flickered, casting dancing shadows across the polished mahogany table. Aiko, ever the picture of composed success, spoke of mergers and acquisitions, his voice a smooth, confident hum that usually soothed Sakura. Tonight, however, it felt like a distant river, its current too predictable, too devoid of the unexpected rapids that thrilled her soul. He gestured with a perfectly manicured hand, detailing projections and market shares, his words a tapestry woven with logic and ambition.

Sakura nodded, a polite smile gracing her lips, but her gaze drifted, snagging on the intricate patterns of the tablecloth, then to the window where the city lights bled into the inky sky. Aiko’s world was one of tangible achievements, of clear objectives and measurable outcomes. It was a world she understood, a world she had, until recently, believed was her own. But lately, a different kind of language had begun to resonate within her, a language spoken in hushed tones and stolen glances, a language that felt like the rustling of leaves in a hidden grove or the quiet sigh of the tide.

"…and the projected growth, Sakura, is quite remarkable. We're looking at a substantial increase within the next fiscal year," Aiko concluded, his eyes, earnest and expectant, met hers.
