The air, which had moments before buzzed with the frantic energy of Leo’s solitary efforts, now hummed with a different kind of electricity. It was the hum of shared purpose, the gentle thrum of friendship working in tandem. Luna, her wings a blur of iridescent motion, was already zipping back and forth, a tiny, determined whirlwind. Bartholomew, his antennae twitching with quiet contemplation, was methodically examining the very foundations of the stage, his ancient legs moving with deliberate grace. And me? Well, I was trying my best to keep up, my own many legs a flurry of activity as I followed Bartholomew’s instructions, my heart swelling with a hope I hadn't dared to feel just minutes before.
“More of the shimmering dew, Leo!” Luna chirped, her voice barely audible above the whir of her wings as she deposited a large droplet onto a patch of graying paint. “Bartholomew says it’s like the magic glue that holds the colors together!”
I scurried over, my mandibles carefully holding a dewdrop I’d collected from a particularly plump spiderweb. It felt cool and alive on my tongue, a tiny sphere of pure, unadulterated sparkle. “Here you go, Bartholomew!” I offered, placing it carefully near where he was gently scraping away a dull, powdery residue.
