The air in the abandoned warehouse hung heavy, thick with the scent of damp concrete and decay. Dust motes danced in the single shaft of moonlight that pierced a grimy window, illuminating the tableau of Hana and Kenji. Hana, her breath catching in her throat, clutched the crumpled photograph. It was the key, the undeniable proof she had risked everything to find. Kenji, her carefully constructed composure finally fraying, stood opposite her, her eyes, usually so cool and calculating, now blazing with a terrifying intensity.

"You shouldn't have come here, Hana," Kenji’s voice was a low growl, stripped of its usual practiced politeness. It was the voice of a predator, cornered but far from defeated.

"I had to," Hana’s voice trembled, but her gaze was unwavering. "Akase deserved for me to know the truth. She deserved justice." She held up the photograph. "This… this is all the proof I needed. The locket. The one you said you lost. The one with the inscription. The one that belonged to him."
