Hana traced the spine of a worn textbook, the cool leather a familiar comfort against her fingertips. But comfort was a luxury she could no longer afford. A folded piece of paper, stark white against the dark wood of the table, lay before her. It hadn’t been there when she’d sat down, and no one had approached her. Her heart gave a sudden, hard lurch. She glanced around, her gaze sweeping over the few other students engrossed in their studies. No one met her eyes. No one seemed to have noticed anything. With trembling fingers, she picked it up.
