He had offered her shelter, a place to rest her weary bones, after she had stumbled upon his secluded dwelling, a beacon of quietude amidst the chaotic wilds she had been traversing.

“You carry a great burden, child,” Kenji’s voice was a low murmur, like pebbles rolling in a stream. It held no judgment, only a profound understanding that pricked at Akira’s carefully constructed stoicism.
