The Space Hunters prepare to face the awakened original Keeper of Balance, but instead of a battle, they are confronted with a trial of understanding. Kenny must prove that the Heart of the Cradle was taken not for selfish gain but to heal. The Keeper reveals a hidden truth: the ancient evil was a necessary part of cosmic balance, and by removing it, Kenny has upset the equilibrium. To restore balance, he must merge the Heart with his own soul, becoming a living anchor between light and shadow. The chapter ends with Kenny accepting this fate, but the Keeper grants him a vision of his parents together, hinting at a future reunion.
The Heart of the Cradle pulsed in Kenny's hands, warm and alive, as if it had a heartbeat of its own. The crystal orb radiated a gentle golden light, casting long shadows across the courtyard of the Spire of Echoes. Lyra stood motionless, her obsidian face etched with concern, her glowing eyes fixed on the horizon where the stars themselves seemed to ripple.
"The Keeper of Balance awakens," she said, her voice barely a whisper. "We have little time."
Kranos stepped forward, his hand resting on his blaster. "Then we fight. We've faced worse."
