The Trial of Light
At Hunter's Station, the crew prepares for the journey to the Crystal Throne. A surprise Hive attack led by a former hunter turned queen's servant forces Kenny to defend the station. In the battle, Kenny unlocks a new warden ability to see threads of fate. After repelling the attack, a hologram from the Crystal Throne appears, speaking directly to Kenny, revealing that to become the true warden he must sacrifice his deepest wish. The chapter ends with Kenny grappling with the choice ahead.
The hangar fell into an uneasy stillness. The fight was over, but the tension remained thick as spilled fuel. Tera's forces had laid down their weapons, and Hunter's Station personnel were tending to the wounded. Kranos stood with his arms crossed, watching Tera as she knelt beside a fallen comrade.
"She'll answer for her actions," Kranos muttered to Mera. "But not today. Today, we need every gun we can get."
Kenny sat on a cargo crate, his father Aris beside him on a makeshift stretcher. Serena held her husband's hand, her brow furrowed in concentration as she fed him a slow stream of golden light. "He's stable," she said. "But he used too much of his own life force to break the seal."
