Chapter 15: The Hunters' Gambit
The Space Hunters arrive at Hunter's Station for repairs and to decode Crane's plans, but find the station under attack by a rival hunter faction led by Kranos' ex-lover, Tera, who wants the ancient artifacts and has been working with Crane. Kenny's father briefly awakens, warning of a greater threat within the Hive. The crew must fight to defend the station and uncover the full conspiracy.
The starship Starfall hummed through the void, its engines a steady pulse against the silence of space. Kenny sat in the galley, staring at the star chart on the table, his mind a whirl of thoughts. His father, Dr. Aris Thorne, lay in the medical bay in a deep but stable sleep, his vitals monitored by Serena and the ship's systems. The cryo-chamber had been emptied, and his father now rested on a bed, his face less pale, his breathing regular. Kenny had spent hours by his side, holding his hand, hoping for a flicker of recognition. So far, nothing.
Sona slid into the seat across from him, her tail curling around the chair leg. “You should eat something. We'll be at Hunter's Station in a few hours.”
Kenny pushed the plate of synthetic protein across the table. “I'm not hungry. I just... I need him to wake up. There's so much I want to ask him.”
