Chapter 14: The Moon of Echoes
The Space Hunters arrive at the moon where Kenny's father's cryo-chamber is held, but they find it guarded by a mysterious entity—a fragment of the ancient evil's will that has taken the form of Kenny's mother, Serena, as a test. Kenny must face an illusion of his worst fear: losing his family. He uses his warden abilities to see through the deception and frees his father's body, but the encounter reveals a deeper bond between the splinter and Crane, hinting at a larger conspiracy.
The moon loomed ahead, a pale gray sphere pitted with craters and scarred by ancient impacts. Its surface was desolate, but sensors picked up a faint energy signature—life support, humming beneath the regolith. Kenny stood at the viewport, his reflection a ghost over the stars. Beside him, Sona touched his arm.
"We're almost there."
He nodded. His father's body was somewhere in that barren landscape, frozen in a cryo-chamber, waiting. But the thought of Crane—of what the traitor might have done—twisted his stomach.
