The air outside the Temple felt different, lighter, as if the very stones had exhaled a long-held breath. The sun, which had seemed a distant, uncaring eye for so long, now felt warm and familiar on my skin. Noah, ever the pragmatist, was already dusting off his knees, his brow furrowed in thought. Joseph, on the other hand, was doing a little jig, a triumphant grin plastered across his face. “We did it! We actually did it!” he exclaimed, his voice echoing slightly in the sudden quiet.

I looked back at the entrance, the heavy stone door now sealed as if it had never been disturbed. The Shadowy Figure was gone, vanished as mysteriously as they had appeared. I tried to recall the glint in their eyes, the desperation I’d seen there just moments before, but it was already fading, replaced by the crisp, clear memory of the artifact’s soft glow. It hadn't been gold, or jewels, or any of the things I’d half-expected a legendary object to be. It was… simple. Smooth, cool to the touch, and radiating a gentle warmth that seeped not just into my hands, but into my very bones.

“It wasn’t what I expected,” I admitted, my voice quieter than I’d intended. The thrill of the chase, the solving of riddles, the near-capture – it had all been building towards some grand, earth-shattering revelation. And in a way, there had been one, but it was a quiet one, like the rustling of leaves in a gentle breeze.
