They Say “Let Go” — But Never Say How Much It Costs
People repeat the same soft advice: “If you truly love him, learn to let him go when he no longer makes you happy.” But no one ever adds the rest: that letting go is never easy at all — and that along the way, you risk losing nearly every part of yourself first.
They also say: “A woman begins to detach slowly, while she is still standing right beside you.” And it is true. Yet what they do not tell you is everything she quietly endures during that invisible process: nights without rest, a heart grown too heavy to carry, tears wept until her eyes have no more water left to give. She carries all that suffering and grief while still living with you, still speaking gently, still appearing whole enough not to alarm you… and even after she finally walks away, the pain does not simply stop. It continues — because she was already grieving the end long before the relationship itself was over.
Leaving was never what she wanted. She stayed as long as she possibly could, until every door of hope had closed of its own accord, until she truly had no choice left. She realized at last: loving you completely had slowly begun to kill the love she owed to herself — and for her own survival, she had to step away.
