The stark white of the interrogation room seemed to leech the color from the world, a stark contrast to the crimson velvet and gilded opulence of the Bolshoi. Anya sat, not on a plush stool, but a cold, hard chair, her once-graceful posture now coiled with a weariness that went beyond mere physical exhaustion. Her eyes, usually alight with the fire of performance, were shadowed, as if the darkness she’d witnessed had settled permanently within them.
