The air in the grand foyer of the Bolshoi Theatre, once thick with the scent of expensive perfume and hushed anticipation, now felt thin and brittle, like ice about to crack. Anya, her eyes wide and a tremor still running through her slender frame, clutched Dmitri’s arm. The opulent chandeliers, usually a beacon of warmth, cast long, accusatory shadows across the polished marble. The villain, a man whose name was now a bitter taste in their mouths, who had woven a web of deceit with such chilling precision, was gone. They had found him, or rather, he had been found, cornered by the very shadows he’d so expertly manipulated.

Nickola, his usual boisterous energy subdued, stood a little apart, his gaze sweeping over the now-empty expanse. The whispers had died down, replaced by a stunned silence. The curtain had fallen on Anya’s ordeal, but the echoes of the drama, the chilling realization of how close they had come to losing her forever, still reverberated. Anya had been found, safe, yes, but the imprint of her captivity was etched in the haunted look in her eyes, a vulnerability that Dmitri found himself aching to shield.

“It’s… over?” Anya’s voice was a fragile thread.
