The opulent theater, once a sanctuary of dreams and graceful pirouettes, now felt like a gilded cage. Anya, though physically free, was a prisoner of her own fear. The grand performance, the very reason for her abduction, had long since passed, leaving only a hollow echo in the vast emptiness of her mind. Dmitri, his heart a battlefield of relief and lingering dread, watched his sister from across the room. Her eyes, once sparkling with the fire of a prima ballerina, now held a distant, haunted look. The light had been leached from them, replaced by a shadow that clung to her like the velvet curtains of the stage.

Nickola, ever the pragmatist, paced the floor, his brow furrowed in thought. The immediate danger had passed, the architect of Anya’s torment exposed and apprehended. Who are you talking about?" he urged, his voice low and steady, a balm to her frayed nerves.
