The scent of lavender and old paper clung to Luna’s classroom, a comforting aroma that usually settled her nerves. But today, a tremor of unease ran beneath the surface, a subtle dissonance she couldn’t quite place. At sixteen, the weight of her impending coronation as Alpha of the Star Lake Pack felt heavier than any textbook. Her life was a carefully orchestrated balance: princess duties, rigorous combat training, and the unexpected path of a high school teacher. The coronation, meant for her seventeenth birthday, had been pushed to her twenty-first, a concession to the council’s skepticism about a young woman leading. Years of military service had honed her into a formidable fighter, but the ethereal grace she’d once possessed seemed to have been traded for a steely resolve. Now, at twenty-one, with the coronation looming, she’d found an unexpected solace in music, forming a group called "Midnight Sisters." The initial lineup had dwindled, leaving her the sole member, a songwriter, artist, and teacher, her days overflowing with responsibilities.

Then, he walked into her life. A new teacher at the high school, a young man named Jordan, whose face struck her with an almost jarring familiarity. It was as if she was looking at a mirror, a reflection she hadn't known existed. He was twenty-one, the same age as her, and carried an aura of quiet resilience. He'd been separated from his sister when they were just four, escaping a shadowed past and finding refuge with Alpha John of the Silver Lake Pack. Alpha John, a man who’d become a father figure, had intended to crown Jordan Alpha on his twenty-first birthday, a milestone that had recently passed. Seeking a fresh start, Jordan had pursued his teaching degree, and now found himself here, in this very school.

The moment their eyes met across the bustling hallway, a jolt, electric and undeniable, passed between them. Jordan’s breath hitched. There was something about this woman, a resonance that echoed through his very being, a mystery he couldn't articulate. He felt it before, the pull of something lost, but never this strongly. Luna, too, felt the prickle of recognition, a phantom limb of memory reaching out. She dismissed it, her mind already racing ahead to her upcoming solo tour. She was already late.
