Max found Luna curled on her hotel bed, a small, crumpled heap of despair. The vibrant energy that usually crackled around her was extinguished, leaving only a hollow ache. He hesitated at the doorway, the unspoken question hanging in the air. Finally, he pushed the door open a sliver and stepped inside. "Luna?" he whispered, his voice soft.
She flinched, pulling her knees tighter to her chest. Tears streamed down her face, leaving glistening trails on her pale skin. "Max," she choked out, her voice raw with pain. "I… I don't know what to do."
He sat on the edge of the bed, careful not to crowd her. "Tell me," he urged gently. "Whatever it is, you can tell me."
