The crimson moon, a bruised eye in the velvet sky, bled its spectral light upon the desolate plains. Vladislaus stood as a sentinel of fury, his form etched against the horizon, a monument to an ancient rage. The scent of Katja’s fear, a fragile perfume on the night air, was a torment, a siren’s call that drew him deeper into the labyrinth of his own making. His heart, a thing of stone and shadow, ached with a hunger that no mortal prey could sate, a hunger for her, for the echo of her laughter, the warmth of her touch, the light that had been so brutally extinguished and then, in his desperate act, so fiercely rekindled.

He had offered her eternity, a gilded sanctuary from the ravages of time and the cruelty of men. He had believed, in his possessive adoration, that his love, vast and ancient as the stars, would be enough. He had seen her as his lost wife, returned from the clutches of death, a precious jewel reclaimed from the abyss. But her spirit, that wild, untamed thing that had captivated him across centuries, had recoiled from the gilded bars of his devotion. Her yearning for the sun, for the ephemeral beauty of a world she could no longer touch, was a testament to the life he had stolen, not saved.

A guttural roar, a sound ripped from the very bowels of his being, tore through the silence. It was the lament of a god scorned, the cry of a king whose kingdom had crumbled to dust at his feet. She had fled him, his Katja, his poet, his eternal muse. She had chosen the perilous path of defiance, of a freedom he could not comprehend, a freedom that threatened to unravel the very fabric of their shared existence.
