Chapter 9
Conrad's Mediation
Conrad, Eli's brother and a friend to Claire, navigates the strained relationships. His supportive nature seeks to mend bridges and foster understanding between everyone.
The air in Conrad’s apartment hung thick with unspoken words, a palpable tension that even the cheerful yellow of the walls couldn't entirely dispel. Eli grunted, a sound devoid of warmth. He finally lifted his gaze, his eyes, usually bright and full of life, now shadowed with a familiar resentment. They landed on Claire, and a flicker of something unreadable – pain, perhaps, or just pure accusation – crossed his face.
