While tending her grandmother, Elara hears whispers of the Starlight Grove, a place of ancient music said to heal all ills.
The air in the small cottage was thick with the scent of dried herbs and the quiet rhythm of Elara’s grandmother’s shallow breaths. Sunlight, once a vibrant cascade through the windowpanes, now seemed muted, as if even the sun felt the creeping chill of the blight. Elara hummed a soft, hopeful tune, her fingers gently stroking her grandmother’s papery-thin hand. Each note was a petal of comfort, a fragile bloom against the encroaching silence.
“The blight,” her grandmother whispered, her voice a dry rustle, “it steals the song from the world, child.”
Elara nodded, her heart a leaden weight in her chest. She saw it everywhere – the dullness of the leaves, the hushed chirping of birds, the way even the laughter of the village children seemed to carry a muted echo. It was as if the world itself was falling ill, mirroring the sickness that held her dearest companion in its grip.
