Chapter 17
Retrieving the Lumina Bloom
With the beast's silent consent, Kam Kam carefully plucks the glowing flower. Its warmth spreads through her hand, a promise of healing and hope.
The air around the Lumina Bloom hummed with an energy that vibrated deep within Kam Kam’s bones. It pulsed, a living heart of light, casting an ethereal glow on the mossy cavern walls. Beside her, the Beast, its massive form a shadow against the luminescence, remained utterly still. A silent understanding had passed between them, a bridge built over fear and loneliness. Kam Kam felt a surge of gratitude for this creature, whose fearsome exterior hid a gentle soul.
Her fingers, small and steady, trembled slightly as she reached for the stem. The petals, soft as moonlight, brushed against her skin. It was unlike any flower she had ever seen, its radiance not harsh but gentle, like the first dawn after a long night. She could feel its warmth seeping into her palm, a comforting heat that promised life and vitality. It felt like holding a piece of the sun, a captured star.
With a delicate tug, the Lumina Bloom detached from its roots. A soft sigh, almost imperceptible, escaped the Beast. It wasn’t a sound of distress, but rather of release, of an age-old duty fulfilled. The light of the flower seemed to intensify, as if acknowledging Kam Kam’s touch, accepting her as its new steward. The cavern, which had been bathed in its glow, now seemed to dim slightly, the absence of the bloom creating a subtle shift in the atmosphere. But Kam Kam held the flower aloft, its light now a beacon in her hands, illuminating the path that lay ahead.
