Chapter 13
The Fabled Glowing Flower
Deep within a hidden glade, bathed in moonlight, Kam Kam sees it: a flower radiating a soft, healing light. It is the cure, but it lies within the beast's domain.
The air grew thick and sweet, laced with the scent of damp earth and blossoms Kam Kam had never encountered before. Moonlight, usually a shy visitor in the dense canopy of the Whispering Woods, now spilled in broad, silver rivers, illuminating a glade unlike any she had imagined. It was a place of hushed reverence, where ancient trees, their bark like the wrinkled skin of giants, bowed their heads in silent worship. And there, at the heart of it all, nestled amongst moss-covered stones that seemed to hum with a silent energy, was the flower.
It wasn’t just a flower; it was a beacon. Its petals, the colour of a sunrise caught in dew, pulsed with an inner luminescence, casting a gentle, ethereal glow that pushed back the shadows. This was the cure. This was the hope. Kam Kam’s breath hitched in her throat, a silent gasp of wonder and relief. She had found it. After days of arduous travel, of whispered fears and heart-pounding encounters, she had finally found the fabled glowing flower.
But her elation was immediately tempered by a prickle of unease. The glade, for all its beauty, felt charged with an invisible presence. The silence here was different from the hushed anticipation of the forest; it was a watchful, waiting silence. Her eyes scanned the edges of the clearing, her small hand instinctively reaching for the smooth, worn stone she kept tucked in her sash. She remembered the roar, the earth-shattering sound that had sent tremors through her very bones. The beast. This was its domain.
