Chapter 11
The Ancient Tree's Wisdom
An ancient, colossal tree speaks to Kam Kam, its voice a rustle of leaves. It shares secrets of the woods and the blight, hinting at a deeper truth beyond the curse.
The air in the Whispering Woods grew heavy, not with the damp chill of the caves, but with a profound, ancient stillness. Kam Kam, her heart still thrumming from the trials of the echoing caves, found herself standing before a being unlike any she had ever imagined. It was a tree, yes, but a tree that dwarfed even the mightiest oaks of her village. Its trunk was a titan’s column, gnarled and scarred with the passage of countless seasons, its bark a tapestry of mosses and lichens that shimmered with an almost ethereal light. Its branches, thick as a man’s waist, reached towards the heavens, a canopy of emerald leaves so dense they seemed to absorb the very sunlight, casting the forest floor in a perpetual, verdant twilight.
Kam Kam felt a tremor run through the earth beneath her bare feet. It wasn't an earthquake, but a… breath. The leaves of the colossal tree rustled, not with the wind, but with a sound that resonated deep within her bones. It was a whisper, a murmur, a voice that seemed to weave itself from the very essence of the forest.
“Little one,” the voice rumbled, a sound like the grinding of ancient stones, yet strangely gentle. “You tread where few dare. Your spirit carries the scent of courage, and the weight of a village’s hope.”
