The storm did not ease.
It only shifted, dragging its nails across the windows of Serena’s apartment and making the glass shudder every time thunder rolled across the sky. She had tried the usual things first. The lamp on. The curtains closed. A cup of tea she hadn’t touched. Music she couldn’t focus on. Breathing exercises that felt useless once the rain got loud enough to turn memory into something physical.
Adrian had not left.
