Chapter 15
The Squirrels' Last Stand
Just as the puppies and Captain Zoomie reach the Whispering Waterfall, Sly and his Sneaky Squirrels make their final, desperate move. They've followed the Spookyween Detectives, hoping to snatch the treasure at the last moment. Sly rallies his gang, chattering aggressively, and they try to block the path to the waterfall's hidden entrance. They’re determined to claim the pot of gold for themselves, creating a noisy, frantic confrontation at the edge of the thundering water, a last-ditch effort fueled by greed.
The roar of the Whispering Waterfall filled the air, a thunderous symphony that vibrated through the soles of Baby Blue’s paws. Mist swirled around them, clinging to their fur like tiny, cold ghosts. Captain Zoomie was right!”
But before they could take a single step forward, a frantic chattering erupted from the trees behind them. Sly, his bushy tail twitching with a desperate fury, leaped onto a fallen log, his sneering face a mask of pure greed. His gang of Sneaky Squirrels, a dozen or so of them, scrambled after him, their eyes glinting with the same avaricious light.
“Not so fast, puppies!” Sly shrieked, his voice surprisingly loud against the waterfall’s din. “That treasure is ours! We’ve been following you all along!”
