Chapter 9

A Baker's Big Surprise

Following Russo's olfactory lead, the Spookyween Detective Agency, with Captain Zoomie trotting alongside, heads straight for 'Brenda's Bakes & Crafts'. The bell above the door chimes merrily as they enter. Inside, the air is thick with the aroma of sugar and vanilla, but also that distinct floral perfume. Brenda, the cheerful baker with flour dusting her apron, looks up, her expression a mixture of surprise and slight panic. She greets the puppies warmly, but her flustered demeanor doesn't go unnoticed by the keen-eyed detectives. They suspect she knows more than she's letting on.

A flicker of surprise, quickly followed by a tremor of something that looked a lot like panic, crossed her face.
