A Sweet Solution
With the mystery solved and the culprit identified, the Spookyween Detective Agency springs into action. Under Brenda’s careful guidance, and with a few helpful nudges from Captain Zoomie, the puppies assist in gently and safely removing the fireworks from the cake. They need to be returned to Mr. Sparkle immediately. The clock is ticking, as the sun begins its descent, casting long shadows across the town. The urgency is palpable; they must get the fireworks back before the evening fireworks display is scheduled to begin.
The scent of sugar and a hint of something… sparkly, filled the air. Baby Blue, Dottie, and Russo stood on their hind legs, their noses twitching, gazing at the magnificent, multi-tiered cake that sat on Brenda’s counter. It wasn’t just any cake; it was a towering confection of frosting roses and spun sugar, and nestled precariously in its very center, like a glittering, unexploded bouquet, were the missing fireworks.
“Whoa,” breathed Baby Blue, his tail giving a slow, impressed thump against his leg. “That’s… a lot of frosting.”
Dottie, ever the observant one, nudged a stray piece of fondant with her paw. “But look! The fireworks! They’re safe!” Her voice, usually so cheerful, held a note of relief that was almost palpable. She’d been so worried, her little paws had been twitching with anxiety all morning.
