Chapter 8
Chapter 8: The Reckoning
Sarah faces her father in the morning, a confrontation that forces her to articulate what she truly wants. Liam arrives with news that his project is finished early, and together they make a quiet decision to begin again, ending with a shared dinner at her apartment.

Then she showered, dressed in her favorite jeans and a soft blue sweater, and walked downstairs to open the shop. The sunflowers on the counter caught her eye, their petals still bright, their stems still firm. She touched one, remembering the way Liam had looked at her when he'd brought them. Like she was something precious.
