Sarah and Liam rush to the bakery to find Brenda panicked over a broken oven and a massive order due. As they work together to salvage the situation, Sarah's father arrives to help, leading to an unexpected moment of connection between him and Liam. The crisis is averted, but Sarah receives a call from Emily that changes everything.
The bell on the bookstore door was still swinging when Sarah and Liam reached the sidewalk. Sarah's boots slapped against the pavement as she broke into a jog, Liam matching her stride easily despite his longer legs.
"What do you think it is?" he asked, his breath coming quick.
"I don't know. Brenda doesn't panic. She's the calmest person I know."
