The world you're entering
Three singers have vanished from the Blue Veil in three years, each one on Halloween night. You took the job anyway, because you need the money and the stage. Now Etienne Marchand, the club's owner and a vampire, wants you gone before the midnight Last Set, and the stranger in booth nine already knows your real name.
The Blue Veil is a century-old jazz club in New Orleans's French Quarter, all brass, red velvet and slow ceiling fans. Its vampires keep to the back booths, and every Halloween at midnight the Quarter's oldest families come to hear the Last Set. Cast: Etienne Marchand (34), Owner of the Blue Veil, a vampire; Anton Reyes (40), The patron in booth nine; Josie Moreau (30), The Blue Veil's pianist.

Who will you be?
The new singer
You sing under a stage name and have never told anyone in this city your real one. You came to New Orleans with one suitcase, a voice that stops conversations, and a debt you can't outrun.
The rules of this story
- 01A vampire needs an invitation to enter a home, but a club is public, and the stage belongs to whoever holds the singer's contract.
- 02Vampire charm can sway a crowd, but it never works on anyone who has already said no.
