Chapter 23: The Seed Beneath the Roots

After the battle, Leon and his friends return to the Night Blood village to a hero's welcome. That night, Leon has a strange dream of a dark seed buried beneath the village. He and Rina discover a fragment of the Void Mother's essence that escaped the sealing, which begins to corrupt the land. Leon uses the last spark of his divine power to purify the fragment, transforming it into a harmless light stone. The ordeal deepens his connection to the world, but a distant call from the ancient forest hints at new trials ahead.

The journey back to the Night Blood village was quiet, but not heavy. The sky had cleared to a soft blue, and the forest seemed to breathe again, the twisted shadows gone. Leon walked at the front of the group, Kain a few paces behind, his steps uncertain. The former demigod kept his gaze low, as if the weight of centuries pressed on his shoulders. Decan stood at the center, Rune beside him, their faces lined with relief and worry. When they saw Leon, a cheer erupted—not loud, but deep, like a sigh of gratitude. The Night Bloods had heard the distant sounds of battle, had felt the tremor of power, and now their champions returned.
