The Serpent's Court
The night before the final round, Leon is summoned by the Beast King, who reveals his alliance with Kain and attempts to capture Leon for a ritual. Misty returns with a warning, and the group escapes into the catacombs beneath the arena, where they meet the guardian of the fifth crystal. Leon gains a new ability to sense the truth, and they flee the kingdom, setting the stage for a final confrontation with Kain.
The setting sun painted the Beast Kingdom in shades of amber and crimson, but Leon felt no warmth. The arena's victory was hours behind him, yet a cold knot remained in his chest. The clerk's capture had brought relief, but not peace. Kain's shadow clung to the air like smoke after a fire.
Rina walked beside him through the torchlit corridors of the champion's lodge. Her hand brushed his arm. "You're brooding again."
"I'm thinking," Leon said.
