Leon and the Night Blood tribe enter the Beast Kingdom tournament's first round. Leon faces a Crystal Fang champion and defeats him with mercy, exposing the spy clerk as a fraud. An ancient guardian appears, reveals the tournament is corrupted, and grants the tribe passage to the final round, but Kain's shadow looms.
The roar of the crowd was a living thing, pressing down through the stone ceiling above the tunnel. Leon clutched the fifth crystal against his chest, its warmth a steady pulse against his racing heart. Around him, his friends caught their breath—Rina's hand still resting on his arm, Torn pacing like a caged beast, Maliko scanning the shadows for any sign of the clerk who had vanished into the dark.
Decan stood apart, speaking in low tones with Rune. The old leader's face was carved from granite, but his eyes betrayed a flicker of worry. One Eye leaned on her staff nearby, her one good eye fixed on the crystal. Misty hovered near Lexus, her blue scales shimmering with tension.
“He gave us until sunset,” Rina said, breaking the silence. “We have time.”
