Leon and his allies infiltrate the temple beneath the Beast Kingdom arena. They face a guardian spirit that tests each member's resolve, revealing a fragmented vision of Leon's divine parentage and the fifth crystal's true purpose as a key to Kain's defeat. The group escapes a collapsing chamber and learns that a high-ranking official is secretly allied with Kain, forcing them to reconsider their tournament strategy.
The tunnel beneath the arena smelled of damp earth and old secrets. Leon moved first, his dark flame casting shifting shadows on the stone walls. Behind him came Rina, her hand resting on the small kratos she'd tamed, its scaled sides rising and falling with steady breath. Torn and Maliko flanked the rear, weapons drawn. Lexus walked beside Decan, her blue reptilian eyes scanning every crack. Rune brought up the rear, her staff glowing with a faint light that pushed back the heavy darkness.
"The crystal's pulse is stronger here," Leon whispered. "Almost like it knows we're coming."
Rina nodded. "I feel it too. A kind of pulling, like a heartbeat that doesn't belong to any living thing."
