The Shattered Mask
Leon and the group travel to the hidden temple to complete the ritual with the second crystal. During the ceremony, the crystal shatters and a shadow of Kain appears, revealing that the 'spirit of Unos' was a deception to lure them into a trap. The temple collapses. Leon's power fully awakens as they escape, but the crystal is destroyed. They return to find the Night Blood village attacked, and a mysterious figure watches from the forest.
The morning mist clung to the forest as Leon and his companions set out. Rune led the way, her staff tapping a steady rhythm against the mossy ground. Behind her came Leon, then Torn, Maliko, Misty, Lexus, and Seeker. The path wound through ancient trees whose roots bulged like frozen rivers. Birds with iridescent feathers darted overhead, their calls echoing through the canopy.
Leon carried the second crystal in a pouch at his belt. Its amber glow pulsed in time with his heartbeat. Ever since his trial with the shadow self, he had felt a new awareness—a thread linking him to the world around him. He could sense the life in the trees, the pulse of the earth, the distant rumble of a waterfall.
"How much farther?" Torn asked, wiping sweat from his brow.
